Fishing
Fishing is a way of life in the Algarve and the Portuguese have one of the highest fish consumptions per capita in the world, which is no wonder considering the abundant natural resource on its doorstep. All types of fishing trips are available. You can expect to find native fish such as groupers, snappers, mackerel, seabass, stone bass and sea bream on the shorter fishing trips. For the more adventurous, big game fishing is available with Blue Marlin arriving in the Eastern Algarve in late June, migrating to the Western Algarve by the end of August and remaining until early October. Whether you prefer deep sea fishing, light reel fishing or fishing straight from the beach, cliffs or harbour, the Algarve will accommodate. Trips and equipment can be booked from The Way Tours in Salema.
